Re: Numbers of Kitely regions vs SL private regions

The number of Kitely regions is getting closer to matching the number of SL private regions...

HGB's OpenSim Statistics post for June 2017 reports an increase of 339 regions on Kitely over the previous month. In fact, over the past three months, the number of regions managed by Kitely has increased by just under 1,000 (from 14,887 to 15,873).

Tyche Shepherd's SL Grid Survey reports that, from 21 May to 18 June, the number of private estate regions changed from 16,454 to 16,393, a decrease of 61 regions.

The current difference in area is 520 regions.

Kitely's land area is now 96.83% of the land area covered by SL's private estate regions.

A quick update: At the time of writing (25 June 2017, 19:00 GMT), Kitely has 16,005 regions, which is the first time I've seen the total grid size over 16K.

Tyche Shepherd's Grid Survey of 25 June 2017 reports 16,424 private regions, a difference of 419.

The gap is closing...

HGB's OpenSim Statistics report for July 2017 gives an increase of 239 regions on Kitely over the previous month, to a total of 16,122.

Tyche Shepherd's SL Grid Survey reports that, from 18 June to 16 July, the number of private estate regions changed from 16,393 to 16,407, unusually an increase of 14 regions over the month (first time in this thread!).

The gap is still closing. The current difference in area is just 285 regions.

Kitely's land area is now 98.20% of the land area covered by SL's private estate regions.

So will Kitely's land area overtake SL's private estate land area over the next month? Watch this space! 8-)

On 30 July 2017, Tyche Shepherd's SL Grid Survey reported that the number of private estate regions was 16,376.

Kitely's land area on 30 July amounted to 16,256 standard region equivalents, which is 99.27% of SL's private estate land area.

The difference is now a mere 120 regions...

Another week has gone by, and the numbers are creeping ever closer.

On 13 August, Kitely's land area was 16,309 standard region equivalents -- up another 32 regions.

Tyche Shepherd's SL Grid Survey gives the number of SL private estate regions as 16,349.

The difference is now 40 regions.

In other words, it will only take two 4x4 Advanced worlds and two Standard 2x2 worlds for Kitely's land area to equal the area covered by SL's private estates.

Any takers?!

From Kitely's splash screen just now (18 August 2017):

From Tyche Shepherd's SL Grid Survey:

So Kitely's land area at 16,360 regions is now greater than the land area of private estates in Second Life surveyed on 13 August 2017 as 16,346.

Congratulations, Ilan and Oren! :)

Add 1 to those numbers - I just came across from SL, too.

Love that basically, for barely tuppence more than a monthly SL membership, you can have yourself an entire region on Kitely. That just blows me away. Doesn't surprise me that the numbers are growing over here. These people know what they're doing! I'll certainly be spreading the word to my SL friends who aren't yet aware of Kitely.

Also LOVE the fact that whatever people create on Kitely, is actually theirs and not something 'big brother' steals on a whim to claim ownership over.

Long live Kitely :)
