Welcome, Rosa!
You can change the name tag colour via the menu Avatar (at the top left) > Preferences > Firestorm (from the left-hand list); then choose the Tags tab (far right).
There are a lot of different options. It might be worth playing with them to find what you like best.
I admit I always turn name tags off!

It occurred to me when Rosa did so, that I haven't really properly introduced myself either. My Avatar name and RL name are the same. In SL I am DoctorPartridge Allen, while here I'm simply Allen Partridge. I've been tinkering in virtual worlds since 2007 and have developed tools primarily focused on education and adventure games. I met Rosa at an Effinjay concert in SL more than a year ago and we've since become engaged. We live together in Oregon in the US with my now college age daughter.
In Kitely my sim is Virtually Human

At the moment I'm working on several new gadgets and skins, and am building an adventure game. I'm adding some functionality for badges, looting and levels into my GameKit and developing a new questing / pathfinding model.

I've been a user of SL for 6 years and finding it isn't really what I want as I'm creator. BUt I am really struggling in Kitely at the moment. I've just logged in for the first time and can't find a single person anywhere and feeling very much like a noob again.
