Thank you Shandon,

We're continuing to put pressure on Vivox to fix the mess they've made, but it really is up to them to do so. If we could have fixed this issue ourselves, please believe us it would have been done already.

We reached out to Vivox as suggested, and they did contact us immediately... So maybe they do care??
Said basically the same thing, but still encouraging...

Hello,
We’ve isolated the issue and our Ops Team is working on upgrading our infrastructure. We are expecting systems to be coming back over the next few days with a target completion time of mid next week. Until finished connection/transmission will be in an intermittent state. We apologize for the delay.
Best,
Dylan Douglas

Hi Shandon,

When did you contact them? Was it after I posted the latest update?

Okay so it's seems about the same time they emailed us back. Maybe they were stalling until they understood what the problem was and had an idea how to fix it.

I got exactly the same answer from 'Dylan' several days ago. I have been using Discord with my friends inworld. It works pretty well and we are considering not going back to Vivox, ever. Some folks have found the voice quality they can get is way better than they had with Vivox. You set up a Group in Discord, invite folks to the group then all they have to do is 'Join Call" when they want to talk to each other.

This solution may work with your arrangement, Shandon. It does not matter which world you are in, everyone still speaks and hears each other clearly on Discord.

For me this latest problem with Vivox is just part of a long disastrous history which has ruined many a meeting and conversation over the last 12 years of my Virtual Life.

I realise that Vivox's service to the VW's may be free but they must make their money somehow and I think they should know about the 6 Degrees of Separation. Some weird avatar in a Virtual World unhappy with Vivox may have a connection with some big corporation.... who wants voice services...

No man is an island.

Thank you Arton for the thoughts, will definitely look into it. Vivox, when it works lol, is a smooth experience for our audiences generally. Even at that it can sometimes take a little doing to get newer folks settled so the performer can begin. And as noted previously there are a myriad of reasons why Voice is preferred for what we do versus stream. However.. Something that works beats something that doesn't work everytime!
We'll play with Discord, and I may just try to bug you for pointers if we can't figure it out.

Good news:

Vivox notified us that they believe the issue has been resolved and that we need to restart our servers to ensure that they get the new IP addresses in order to resume working.

We restarted all our world-hosting servers and it looks like their voice service has indeed returned to life.

Please test with your own worlds and let us know if you encounter any voice problems.
