Exporting OAR's - Access to all Textures?
I'm really new to OAR's, so forgive me if this is a silly question. I've been hearing that when an OAR is downloaded onto your home computer, once there, an individual has full access to all of the textures applied to every object that came down with the OAR---in texture format. I'm a little surprised at this. Is this correct?? I'm not sure I actually understand. I just want to make sure I'm fully informed about what I'm doing when I make one of my items to be exportable.

Re: Exporting OAR's - Access to all Textures?
Hi Sierra,
An OAR file is an archive file, similar to a ZIP file, which contains folders and files and can be extracted using most compression software. An OAR file includes both XML files that contain metadata about the contents of the OAR file, and files that contain the actual data that was archived (such as prims, meshes, sound files, textures, etc.). The stored textures are saved in an image format that can be easily opened using most image viewers and editors. This means that even though OpenSim includes content protection for items once they are uploaded to it, anyone who has access to an OAR file can still extract its contents using free uncompression tools and do whatever he or she likes with the files inside it.
