Classifeds?

I am curious as to what the plans are, if any, regarding a Classifieds forum for the advertising of products and services.

I know that there is Merchants section, which says "Stores, items and deals" as a descriptor, but it appears to be more of a discussion forum. I am wondering about a specific forum that is only for advertising, not discussion.

The "Stores, items and deals" forum (http://www.kitely.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=32) is designed for Kitely merchants to advertise their stores, items and deals. Just create a thread with your store name or brand and use it to promote your wares.

I understand that, Ilan. I am wondering about the future. Will there be categories, such as Help Wanted, Animations, Fashion, etc.? How do people find what they want without having to spend a ton of time sorting through likely sounding titles that don't actually fit what they are looking for? And what are the rules/policies? After all, there are those who will create a separate thread for every single item they have, which tends to 'swamp' the first page.

People searching for things to buy will most likely look in the Market (which has a top-level tab on our navigation bar). If you want to sell things in Kitely and/or to all hypergrid-connected grids then the best thing to do is to open a Kitely Market store. So, to interpret what you are saying, Ilan, is that there are no plans for a forum that is specifically setup as a Classifieds?

The Merchants, Service Providers and Wanted sections of our Commerce forum can be used as classifieds but aren't reserved for that usage: http://www.kitely.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=31

Given the much higher prominence of the Kitely Market in our site and it's much better content discovery features I believe it will quickly become the go-to place for people who are looking to buy virtual items (and for people who are interested in selling such items). That said, it doesn't include wanted and service providers sections so the aforementioned forums will likely become popular for such information. Wanted ads and ads about service providers are less likely to suffer from most of the problems you've mentioned.

I am most familiar with the "traditional" style of a separate Classifieds section. I am making changes in my plans that call for Kitely becoming my primary "base of operations" rather than the one I had been using, which has such a section. No worries, a bit of exploring of possibilities and I'll be back on track.
