I'm not sure about that, Shandon. It says my gpu is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 but it is actually a GeForce RTX 3090. That's a huge difference. Those two GPUs are in different leagues when it comes to performance and they're not even based on the same architecture.

oh!!
interesting!!
it identifies mine correctly.

on a couple diff computers and even my phone.

maybe somebody swapped your cards when you weren't looking??

(or prolly more likely the tools wrong 🫤)

it mentions that different browsers may report differently, but i suspect that would be simple omissions of certain info, not complete erroneous.

sorry Tess

Well, it's an HP Omen computer and I wouldn't put it past HP to lie about their hardware. The times when Hewlett Packard was a reliable quality brand is long gone.

But I did check in the Windows task manager and in Firestorm and both say it's a GeForce RTX 3090. I've also run all the Unigine Benchmark environments in the past and the performance is way beyond what any GeForce GTX can possibly deliver. I'm logged on at an empty 4x4 sandbox on Kitely right now. With graphics set to Ultra and draw distance at 1024 m I get an fps well above 400 so an RTX 3090 it is.

I think the most likely reason the website got it wrong is that they don't have the GeForce RTX gpus in their database. It's a fairly new series after all.

Btw, since we're all on opensim we don't really need that site anyway. Select "About Firestorm" (or "About whatever-viewer-you-use") in the Help menu and there you have the info.

Thank you but in reality it's more like a total waste of money. There are only a few places on opensim and in SL where you really can use that much gpu power and those aren't the kind of places I'm likely to visit anyway.
