Thank you. As always, Ilan, you are quick and thorough. I'm not sure I totally understand everything at play here. But I can definitely handle making documents PDFs. Thanks again.

If you try to open the document I sent you back (an unedited version of your document) using the Google doc viewer, you'll see the link works as intended. A more robust solution will be to distribute your document as a PDF file. Adobe Reader properly directs the URL to the browser without trying to access it first so this will enable your students to use all the links it contains without issue.
That explains why I prefer to work in my blog rather than in Word.
