I'd like to export some of the single-region sized pieces of my 3x3 mega region.
I tried turning off mega regions, but the export button seems to want to save the whole thing.
Is there a way to export just one 256x256 sub-region of a mega so that it can be uploaded into a single 256x256 region?
How do I export part of a mega region?

Hi Kayaker,
Exporting is done at the world level so you get all the data of the world in your backup.
There are, however, quite a lot of options you can use when loading an OAR file in a locally run simulator. For details, see: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Load_Oar

Hi Kayaker
To get single region OARs from your Kitely non-advanced megaregion OAR try loading it into Sim-on-a-Stick then saving the individual regions in the usual way from the console.
Alternatively I offer a paid-for service that can do this for you.

Yeah, I have a SIM-on-a-monster-server-box in my barn. It has the same terrain map and rivers as Panthalassa. I considered grabbing copies of those.
HOWEVER, I messed it up with a runaway test of a self replicating palm tree. And it is (was) on OSGrig, and it was a very old copy of OpenSim (0.7.1 I think). I could upgrade to the latest OpenSim, and clean up the asset database, and switch it back to standalone. I was looking for an easier way!

Re: How do I export part of a mega region?
I, too, am working on self-education on this topic. I purchased New World Studio last month, which they finally delivered the lcense key for this week, but now their download server is down so I can't get the software to try and learn to use it.
So, IMHO, and YMMV...
- NWS looks easy enough to learn even I could do it, but.. they are beta or unsupprted or something so NWS is not a viable option and not worth my time or money thus far.
- SOAS will do it, but there are switchy configuation things to learn, so less easy. Maria has some good tips in her Hypergrid Business blog, and Inara has some good tips in her blog about how she set up Falling Water build for us at Seanchai Library
- the grand pubah of easy and get it done right though... have Dot do it for ya. She set us up for OSCC by pulling 1 region out of our 2x2 homeworld and it was fast and perfect.
(by the way... if anybody has the install package for NWS Licensed Edition i'd sure be grateful for a copy. I have my own license key so it's not like a grey area or anything.)
thanks all, and, again.. thank you to Dot.

I have a Zip file of NWS Licensed Edition 2.1 for PC. If that will work for you, PM me an email and I'll send you a copy.

Thanks for the kind words, Shandon.
I'm not able to make things to sell on the Market, but can use SoaS to manipulate OARs for other people at a very reasonable price -- especially if you have KC from your own Kitely Market sales that are burning a hole in your avatar's pocket.
