I noticed someone just apparently camping at Seanchai Library tonight.
We encourage visitors to our worlds, and we are open to Premium, Non-Premium, and HG, but it is our hope that folks will visit and explore and do stuff. As long as they are being active we have no concerns with them visiting as long as they like.
But this person was just standing there doing nothing, and did not respond to IMs or NCs. He was dressed in full alpha apparently, except for a greyed out head/hair prim.
The odd bit is, according to Kitely Account History he had been in for exactly 1 hour and 2 minutes consecutive visits, several times in a row - with no gap in between visit times.
This last time he was in for 70 minutes - presumably exceeding the 62 minutes because I talked to him. But that would only seem to matter if he had typed something back, which he did not.
As he was non-responsive I was concerned he could somehow manage to sit there all night and suck up our KCs!
When he did not leave I attempted to Eject & Ban him. But that just moved him to a different Region of our world.
I then added him manually to the Ban list, but he still remained.
Finally I shut our world down to "Group Members Only" and then he got booted.
I have a concern on how this is possible, I was under the understanding that if someone was just hanging out they would be kicked at 60 minutes.
We really would like to leave our world open to all comers, but as we do not operate at a profit, I don't want to incur losses to folks camping.
Can someone help me understand please?
Thanks all!
Shandon

Re: Campers?
Sorry to hear this, Shandon. In the event that there isn't a trivial or innocent explanation, Kitely does implement osKickAvatar so a scripted solution should be feasible. I'm happy to put something together but it would be useful to know your requirements and have assistance with testing. Another approach is to limit the KC in your main avatar account and top that up daily or weekly from an alt account to limit your exposure.

Re: Campers?
Hi Shandon,
Idle timeout for non-Premium visitors to other people's worlds is set to 60 minutes. I guess the avatar in question was not idle for the first couple of minutes after each login.
When the world is otherwise empty and you want to kick someone out without banning them, I recommend using the website controls to set Access to only Me then setting it back to everyone once the avatar has been ejected. This can be done in the Access tab of the Manage World dialog.
If you encounter someone repeatedly abusing your worlds then use the inworld viewer tools to ban them from all your Estates.

Re: Campers?
Thank you Ilan,
I will work under the assumption that it was something tivial and innoncent, as Graham said. And will hope its not something maliscious. I will also do as Graham suggested and have our financial entity hold our bank. This will require some more attention to management, but seems prudent.
Thank you Graham.
Thank you both for your response and suggestions.
