How to restore flat terrain

Post by Snow Gryphon »

I haven't used varegions before and messed up the terrain by uploading a 1x1 terrain accidentally. How do I go back to the 2x2 flat terrain?

Hi Snow,

There are multiple ways to change your world to be a flat terrain:

1) Use the viewer to upload a 512x512 RAW file of flat terrain into your world.

2) Go to your My Worlds page, click the Manage link to open your world's Manage World dialog, switch to the Files tab and use the Replace World option to upload an OAR file of a world with a flat terrain.

3) Open the terrain editing tool in your viewer and use it to flatten your terrain. For instructions, see: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Terraforming

4) Go to your My Worlds page, click the Manage link to open your world's Manage World dialog and use the Change world size option to decrease your world size to 1-region, save, increase it to 4-regions and save. At this point your world will be made out of 1 region-sized area that contains your current terrain and 3 region-sized areas that contain flat terrain. Now decrease your world size to 1-region (selecting to keep one of the flat region-sized area), save, increase it to 4-regions and save. You'll end up with a completely flat 4-region world. Just a reminder that you can use Google to search for terms that the forum software ignores as too common, e.g. in Google (or DuckDuckGo) search for:

Code: Select all
