Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
I was DJing our regular Reggae Night at Gunga City in Naboo last night, when we got griefed by Priscilla Kleenex @ zirconium.ddns.net (UUID entered into region ban list now) with a spam of physical balls that crashed the region. Hope their IP and MAC addresses were logged by Kitely so they can be banned. I also have a lead on her possible regular OS account name, a german woman from Bohemia, according to her profile, who did not return after region restart. Priscilla may have just been attracted by our event listing on Opensimworld.com.

Hi Mike,
We've restored all the worlds this grieffer has visited yesterday to undo any damages they may have done. We've also banned this person's MAC addresses (they've used multiple devices to visit Kitely). Please let us know if you see them in Kitely again.

Re: Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
Every instance of Priscilla Kleenex I've seen in recent months has been using temporary grid instances or subdomains on ddns.net. I would suggest you blacklist all ddns.net grids. There really is no reason for a legit grid to use this service. People can get fixed IPs with any hosting service.Ilan Tochner wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 3:12 pmHi Mike,

Priscilla will definitely need Kleenex tissues to clean the tears now, LOL , banned all over the grid. Funny name for a person that puts time on such activities ( Kleenex is regular equipment at the shrinks desk haha ) Catronian Archipelago was hit too. This person really shows balls

BTW this Priscilla profile was only one day old and I guess they will delete accounts and make new ones to play hide and seek.
Happy new year all !!!! cheers

Hi Mike,
There are legit grids that use dynamic dns services so we can't ban them all just because a few people like this grieffer use them to hurt other people. Kitely gets very few grieffing attempts and we recover from them all very quickly due to our per-world daily backups that enable us to restore specific world states with very little work on our part. We also have various ways to ban people which are much harder to work around than changing IP addresses or grid URIs.

KITELY Inc may not suffer damages, but its customers are. Please name these alleged ddns.net customers who are legit grids. If there are maybe one or two legit grid operators there, you can white list them.Ilan Tochner wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:31 pmHi Mike,

Re: Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
Correct, she simply registers a new grid on ddns.net and rolls a new avie with a new UUID and IP address. There is no legitimate need for ddns.net other than for hacking/griefing.Trouble Ahead wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:21 pmPriscilla will definitely need Kleenex tissues to clean the tears now, LOL , banned all over the grid. Re: Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
People who run a grid on their own computer don't always have a domain name to connect it to so they use a dynamic DNS service to set one up and share that with their friends.
We're not going to list our visitors' private grid URIs, that's against our privacy policy and would thus be a GDPR violation.
We have to balance the needs of multiple people Mike, and that means that we try to minimize the number of people we prevent from entering our grid and don't preemptively block entire classes of people just because some of them might be up to no good.

Re: Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
This is a patently absurd comment. Anyone can register a domain for a few dollars a year, and set up a grid on cloud services like AWS. Ionos charges $1 a year for domain registration as part of a $10 a month web hosting plan.Ilan Tochner wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 8:37 pmPeople who run a grid on their own computer don't always have a domain name to connect it to so they use a dynamic DNS service to set one up and share that with their friends.

Furthermore, if someone has their own grid, by definition, they aren't your customer.

Re: Naboo was griefed on New Years Eve
We don't want to create arbitrary restrictions to who can enter Kitely, especially when they won't be effective. Most people who run their own grids use a subdomain from one of several solutions such as outworldz and they can create as many of those as they'd like. Blocking other dynamic DNS solutions won't really help.
