Singularity limit

Post by Elijah Starfish »

Hi folks,

Does anyone else have the issue with Singularity that when you try to enter a value greater than 512 in the position field, the value defaults to 512?
You can still use the slider to greater values but not manually entering a value.

Looks like they didn't figure on worlds greater than 2x2.

Searched thru the preferences and advanced menu and couldn't find anything that applied.

I'm having the same problem with Kokua when setting the location to over 256.

Firestorm solved this problem a while ago http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-8467

Not seeing that as a problem on Kokua 3.6.8.30064 under Win8. I can get up to 1024 without problems.

So Firestorm is the answer?

Firestorm has an XML file where this limit is configured, it's possible that other viewers have similar XML files.

I'm on Kokua 3.6.12.30743 on Win8 and am having it. I can rez or drag an object to coordinates beyond 256, but if I manually enter something higher, it jumps back to 256. I tested it with Singulairty 1.8.4 (5434) and it works fine (over 256, haven't started building on a world larger than 2x2 yet to need over 512).

I tried editing the floaters_tools file referred to in the Firestorm jira but it seemed to have no effect. I may root around a bit more and see if I can find the config that controls that. This hasn't been a huge problem for me yet, and I guess if it becomes one I will just use Firestorm or Singularity for building.

I just tested Singularity on a larger world and initially had the problem going beyond 512. However, editing the floater_tools.xml file to set the max_val settings to 1024 fixed it.

I'll let you know what I figure out on Kokua, may be that I'm not using the default skin as I think I am.

In Kokua I found that Disabling Build Constraints under the Advanced menu will allow the positioning at greater than 256 if you've also edited the floaters_tools.xml file to allow a higher value.
