Hi James, Kitely worlds are separate islands that can't be placed adjacent to one another. You can, however, create as many worlds as you want and use blamgates to teleport people between them.

Blamgates are gates that automatically teleport the avatar entering them to another destination. You can find several examples in Kitely Market or, if you know how to write scripts, make your own using

If you need a walkin teleporter (ingrid), there is a script and an object in the free Thinkerer box at the entrance to the Hobo Sandbox. Take a copy of the box and look in the contents.
Go there:
Firestorm hop (paste in the nav bar of Firestorm, enter)

That woul be my dream for Kitely - Permanent lands and worlds connected
It is possible to make 2 Var Regions neighbors, I have 9 X (4X4) = 144 regions connected
You will have the usual flight or walking bumping sim crossing small issues when you cross from 1 Var to another but no issues in crossing between regions inside each same Var
Kitely is by far the most automated and professional Grid but their server-saving system does not allow what you propose - The day they would, I would jump in again and forget all other Grids but I guess is no way near their plans
Just wanted to let you know that the system you propose is technically viable and works great on Opensim
