Can the sun direction be changed?

Post by Mykyl Nordwind »

Why is the sun in every virtual world I have explored been in the southern part of the sky? Is this a bias amongst programmers that all virtual worlds are located in the northern hemisphere of whatever planet on which they might be located? Is it possible to change a setting somewhere for this?

I do not really want to do this - but I am curious, and wonder how people from Australia or south America feel about it.

Probably is a programmer thing, I've built that into every game or environment I've ever built. If we lived in an area where the sun went the other way, that's what would be built. I did always try to take into account how far north/south the area was to calculate sun times and angles though.

I don't think we can change the settings to alter the angle of the sun here, (probably viewer-side work) but it would be really cool if we could :)

Personally, if I had the ability to change the sun position, I'd use it :D

Aha, it is not impossible ! Can create custom sky settings, move the sun angle, and then apply them in region settings... :o :D
Now, can it store a full sun move day cycle...
