estate manager not able to do anything

Post by Karen Vela »

I have given my estate manager all rights to the land, to sell, terraform etc, but nothing is working? I even set the land to group as there are 5 islands that should be in different peoples names, but sell land is not working, and the estate manager can do nothing on the land

Hi Karen,

I suggest you set the region to a group then create a special rule for the Estate Manager which provides her with all the rights you wish her to have.

Land sales are not enabled at this time but other things should work.

Do you plan to enable land sales at some point?

Hi Sherrie,

Kitely makes it very cheap to own your own land in Kitely so the need for land resales is significantly reduced. That said, if people are willing to pay you, you can charge them using PayPal (or some other means) and give them rights to a parcel in your world for a defined amount of time. Enabling built-in support for doing so using Kitely Credits isn't currently planned but we'll consider adding it in the future if there is sufficient demand.

it wasn't to make money off the land, just to show who has what island of the 9 I have out. one is for all of us as a rest/commercial area, then we each have private islands to build and live on. We were all sharing ONE island in sl LOL
and I have used phoenix, singularity, and rainbow. I'll get back with him when he gets on to see if any of it worked

My thoughts were not on making money either, but along the lines of what Karen stated. I can own a world (an estate) of 20 regions, which is great. But if I am partners with four other people, I want the ability to designate each of my partners as an 'owner' of individual regions within that world, giving them full region control abilities over those regions. Makes my life easier allowing me to delegate responsibilities. Setting a region to a particular group doesn't accomplish the same thing, and limits how I can use groups for other purposes in that region.

he cannot manage the prims on the land, and he doesn't have functions a region/estate manager SHOULD have, even in group settings, it shows his abilities, but he cannot do them. And I have enabled the admin bar and done everything.

Hi Karen and Sherrie,

The Kitely Plaza http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Ila ... tely-Plaza was built by a group of people over the course of several months. The world is managed in my account and I created the Kitely Plaza group and set different rules for different builders. Some people are able to delete objects, terraform, return objects, etc. and some are not. We then assigned each person a different area they can work in, as everyone played nice it was all done in the same region-wide parcels, however this can also be done by creating smaller parcels. I also added an Estate Manager so that the things that can't be permitted using the group options will be possible. The only thing the Estate Manager wasn't able to do was change region settings which aren't changed that frequently and can be asked of the world manager (things such as editing terrain textures, water height, etc.).

I recommend you use the OpenSim-compatible version of Firestorm as it is proven to work with all of the above and it is the viewer we test with when implementing new features. You can download the latest version of that viewer from here: http://www.firestormviewer.org/download ... d-tabs-1-1
