Will it be possible to take free content to other grids or does that require HG 2.5 given there are no freebies in the marketplace? What is the best strategy there? Develop on SoaS and disseminate via the web?

Thanks, Ilan
Ilan Tochner wrote:Hi Graham,

Items sold via the Kitely marketplace will have an Export permission that merchants can set to allow/disallow these items to leave the Kitely grid. Setting this permission will be done via the marketplace and not inside the viewer thus bypassing the lack of viewer support. The code for enforcing this Export permission will be part of Kitely's proprietary infrastructure which enables us to prevent content that shouldn't leave the Kitely grid from doing so even though the hypergrid protocol doesn't have this capability. By opting for this solution we will be able to implement Hypergrid connectivity before the Hypergrid protocol includes the content protection mechanisms that we believe are essential for getting professional content creators to be willing to sell their content on Hypergrid-connected grids.

Hi Graham,

Items sold inworld will not have a settable Export permission, that option will only be available for items sold in the marketplace. Items sold inworld will, however, be exportable via the Hypergrid using the same logic we now have for deciding whether items can be exported to OAR files. For details see: http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-new ... rmissions/

I am very much looking forward to these developments, HG as well as the market.

Personally I enjoy hypergating around. I am not much of a fan of closed grids anymore [with the caveat I am still in many-lol] and do understand the issues related to perms you are working on ilan.

What i really wish to see is a future of interconnected grids based upon your model, content perms allowing items to go out of that particular grid or just be available inside it. I see much potential in this.

I would also like to see some better connectivity using hypergates...the hit- or- miss- finger- tapping- go- get- some- coffee I often experience reminds me of the early days of inworldz...lol Tho of course I understand the complexities involved in this.

So, hmm, is Hypergrid teleporting already working? :) Sorry, I'm too lazy to try it out :)

Hi Gwyneth,

Hypergrid support hasn't been enabled yet. We'll announce it when it is and I'm sure you'll hear about it once that happens :-)

Thanks, Ilan :) There is now an excellent reason for supporting Hypergrid teleports: http://conference.opensimulator.org/ My company is one of the minor sponsors of this conference, and the organisation is asking for HG links for our exhibits... and obviously we would rather prefer to put a HG link to Kitely :)

And possibly the reverse is also true: perhaps some Kitely users will wish to attend the conference by HG-teleporting to it.

If not, well, we might be able to place at least the URL for the Kitely page where the project can be visited...

It is my understanding the conference is full and nobody else who did not register [and were approved] to attend will be able to get there....however, I could have missed something in this regard .

I'm guessing that Gwyn is talking about the exhibition area running alongside the conference. Same goes for the JokaydiaGrid sessions at VWBPE next week.
