Lost, Ancient Newbie Trying to Create/Manage A World

Post by Dagon Xanith »

This is rough out line of my Summerland Island not exactly finished and its in pretty rough shape.

Right now all my land is set for private until I can afford the higher free regions price.
But I have wonder what happens if I have myself on the unlimited time price and I open up the world to someone I want to help me?
I am bit stuck right now.
I am just creating this thread for people like myself who starting out and have tons of questions, might be stuck with creating/managing their worlds.
Also if I wanted to pay someone in KItely credits or send them gift of time, etc how do I do this?

Editing here because the image I want to show isn't seeming to show up for me in reply section and removing original jpg
Here is plan in more detail of what I want to create its in planning stages.

Image

Ugh that didn't work sharing links it took half of the image off.
Here is url to my blog
http://dagondoodling.blogspot.com/2013/ ... ideas.html
I don't know how to change land colors.
I want beach areas to be lowest
Green areas flat.
White areas are the paths around the island
Brown is bridge, buildings.

Several issues I am having is trying to set the "Teleport" sport to where you enter. I tried it in god mode no clue why its not working. Anyone know how to do this.
I am not ready to tackle making raw island files so I think I am hire someone to help me with that.
But future tips to make my own for those who have done it would be appreciated.
Also I notice sentence I updated to unlimited I am getting all these timeout message I didn't have before and if I am multi-tasking the whole area turns grey and basically I got pop up box saying I was logged off due to inactivity but there has been few times I was doing something and it said I was saying I had been inactive for 30 minutes ugh.
The inactivity pop messages are starting to get very annoying

This Summerland, I still trying to figure out stuff texture wise but I am currently using texture for land I got from Johnny Magic freebie shop called FREE-fantasy grass1 and a sand.
Strangely doesn't seem to show up, not sure why yet.
I got make shift grids to figure out prospective, scale, etc.
The square that has 8 on it represents 8 meters in yellow and brown but you can't really see in the snapshot.
Thanks Minethere for the help

Hey Dagon,

I think it is smart to make a plan before building. I should do that also but just can't. I just begin and see where it takes me. Down side is I have to review and redo a lot of spots over and over again;-( Good to see you are doing well. Dagon, just open up your region and people can come over to see and help, it isn't gonna cost you a lot. Promise;-)

I end up going for the unlimited but not sure what happens when other people come over.
Does it end up costing me KC?
If anyone really wants visit just let me know.
I sort of like Kitely its likes SOAS but with more options;) like Meshes.
I am experiment with painting on Meshes in photoshop and those little pixel boxes are very important guides.
Here is the my sky box version of my first mesh house.
I can't enter the place unless its phantom and I need to put rug down so I wouldn't fall through the floor.
This place is my base in SL.

If your world is set to "unlimited free access" (the tickbox on the Access tab of the Manage World dialog box), then visitors won't cost you anything more. You just pay the monthly fee for the world.

I like Kitely too. It has a lot of very good options.

Snapshot of problematic cabin
I got allignment issues.
I try to fix one wall of my log home it gets even more messier plus I login today and certain prims I notice had went black.
I hadn't made them black.
Oh no it wonder if it is a dreadful new form of prim rot?
At least I finally after 40 hours or more of work I got proper winter coat for my avatar to play in the snow.

I made some improvement I got ways to go.
And truthfully the last few days its cold and just want to curl up take lots of naps so I am taking a break.
But I want to share few textures and progress I made.
I found some great black curtains while I was fixing my cabin up over in one of Johnny Magic's freebie shops that inspired me to pull out some old hand drawn gold embroidery patterns I done a bit back.
Plus I figure out how to generate 3d looking logs for the house.
If anyone wants to use the textures for non-commerical purposes that I made feel free to snatch them in my newest blog entry.
Enjoy I am going to back to napping now.
