Firestorm Will Not Work
Firestorm Will Not Work
Firestorm for OpenSim keeps telling me I have not entered my username and password when I have. Every time. I'm using the Kitely plugin, I've tried to start it manually...get the same error message. It is the correct version of Firestorm for OpenSim and the correct username and password..what is wrong?

Re: Firestorm Will Not Work
Hi Ken,
Have you installed Firestorm for OpenSim in the default installation directory?
When you login directly via the viewer are you using the username and password that appear at the bottom of the Settings page when you press the "Show viewer login details" link? Have you selected to use the Kitely grid?

Hello Zuza and Ilan:
Yes, to all your questions I believe I am entering the correct information in the correct-very irritating spaces and I continue to get the same error message telling me that I am not entering what in fact I am entering.
I'm going to the grid manager, specifying Kitely, I'm putting in the correct username and the correct password for my Kitely account and I continue to get the error message.
I suppose I can reload the "Inprudence" viewer; however, I do like Firestorm which is the one I use for Second Life.
Seems a very strange situation. Ive been in SL now for over 3 years and know how to load and work the viewer, I say that only to say that I don't think it is pilot error.

Re: Firestorm Will Not Work
Hi Ken,
The way is should work is that you install the Kitely Plugin that are site gives you when you press an Enter World button for the first time. Then, if you haven't done so already, you install the OpenSim compatible version of Firestorm in the default installation directory (close Firestorm before doing that). Then, when no copy of Firestorm is open, press the Enter World button again. It should launch Firestorm and log you in automatically. From then on you should be able to log into Kitely by just pressing the Enter World button on any Kitely world page.
If that isn't what is happening then let's try to eliminate the potential problem causes so we can find what is preventing you from logging in.
First, please verify that the option to use Kitely Plugin is enabled in your account's Settings page: http://www.kitely.com/settings
Then, when you press an Enter World button does it launch Firestorm? (try it here: http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Ila ... ome-Center)
If it doesn't launch Firestorm, what does it do?
If it does launch Firestorm, please select the Help > About Firestorm option from the top menu in Firestorm and verify that it says "Firestorm 4.4.2 (34167) Jul 2 2013 00:49:02 (Firestorm-Release) with OpenSimulator support". Does it say that, if not what does it say?

Re: Firestorm Will Not Work
Hello Ilan:
Everything works wonderfully now!
I tried to follow your advice and was getting conflicting error messages and the Kitely plug-in was opening a version of firestorm that had "Haveock" support. I believe that was the version of Firestorm that I had been using for Second Life. It was the current version of Firestorm but did not have open Sim support.
At any rate I did a complete "clean reinstall"-uninstalled and completely deleted all versions of firestorm from my computer, completely deleted all versions of the Kitely plug-in for my computer and then began everything again from the Kitely site following the instructions in detailed order. Everything works-the plug-in opens the correct version of firestorm, and I can use that version also to continue my work in Second Life.
The upshot of this is it looks like it was "pilot error" after all-I should not be too surprised that I make so many mistakes it's almost laughable-well it is laughable.
Let me say I really appreciate your sincere efforts to help me get into Kitely, because of that I know I have chosen a good open Sim to do my project work in.
Again, thank you so much for your sincere help.
Best regards,
Ken Meyer
