Re: Firestorm Viewer Release 4.6.1.40478
From the change log notes:
"All downloads apart from Windows 64 bit and Linux 64 bit are Havok enabled and therefore can only connect to Second Life main grid and beta grid
They are not OpenSim compatible"
Does this mean the Mac version of the release won't run in Kitely?

Hey Doc, just use the OpenSim build for MAC and all need to be ok: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/downloads ... nsim_build
Havok is a sublicense from LL but i am sure you know this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_ ... Sublicense
I will try to test it on all systems later but my free time is very low this week.

Please test this viewer version on whatever operating system versions you can and let us know if you think we should switch to providing this Firestorm version to new users.

Re: Firestorm Viewer Release 4.6.1.40478
I have tested on Win 7 (64). That is 64 bit OS, 32 bit Firestorm. Worked fine for me. I saw no reason not to switch, but no obvious urgency, either.Ilan Tochner wrote:Please test this viewer version on whatever operating system versions you can and let us know if you think we should switch to providing this Firestorm version to new users.

I'm using 64-bit Firestorm on 64-bit Win7 Pro. No problems so far.

Additional comments on Firestorm 4.6.1.40478
On further use, I have seen convincing indications that the new version is consistently faster than the previous one. I checked FPS on the Universal Campus. Facing the main building has always given one of the lowest FPS values that I have seen in Kitely. The new Firestorm still gives a lower value there than elsewhere, But the FPS value is 25-30, as compared with a value of 8-15 FPS with the previous version of Firestorm. The typical value on my world is 80-90 FPS. (All FPS values are from FRAPS.)
I still have seen no stability problems either in Kitely or in SL.
I would lean toward linking to this download in advice to new people. -- Selby
