flickering screen

Post by oopsee joseppe »

this post is for an issue that "Stare Whisper" is having, her viewer is flickering so bad makes using pointless - She is using Firestorm (phoenix) and I assume windows 8
sorry I dont have more details just she im'd me with her troubles and I searched web for answer...found turning off the "basic shaders" worked for some but not her
anyone with ideas maybe you can IM her inworld or leave notecard with suggestions for a fix?
she logged out before i could get more OS info, sorry

I recommend she set her viewer graphics settings to Low to see if the problem remains. If it doesn't she can start gradually increasing the graphics quality until she finds out which feature is causing the flickering. If she still has flickering issues when viewer graphics settings are set to Low then she may want to try updating her graphics card driver.

i get this when looking towards water outside the region [or it is in my screenview] at certain angles...dunno if this is what you are referring to tho, but, if so, reducing draw and/or changing the angle of view away from the outside water fixes it.

I use Astra but I don't think that particular issue is related to the viewer. [it also could be LSD flashbacks, and, if so, nvm my comment, unless she is having those too, then, of course, that is another issue, altogether]...............

the fix...for "stare" anyway...

Backed up all files, did a restore and updated files (maybe new graphic card driver too not sure), seems it was a corrupted file, result is the viewer works perfectly now

"once restored some files need to be updated I am still updating
- reason why i did this a file had corrupted "

says laptop is like new again :)
