Crashed as soon as I increased a notch above low graphics. Wonder why it did not do that in the older versions? Anything I can do to fix this?

Windows 7 and I think its about 5 years old. I bought it refurbished when the one I loved died. OOO I jst found its a 64 bit computer! Does that mean I downloaded the wrong version of Firestorm?

Why not install the 64bit version of Firestorm and see how well that works for you?

Wow! That seems to have worked! Yippee! FTR, I did another completely clean install, but this time chose the 64 bit Windows version. Thanks!

No one should get the idea from this discussion that a 64 bit viewer is needed for a 64 bit Win 7 machine. Lots of us are running a 32 bit viewer on Win 7. The 64 bit Firestorm could potentially give better service, but I am waiting to hear about user experience before I shift.

Freda -- the 32 bit viewer will run on a 64 bit machine, so you don't need to know. To find out whether a Windows 7 PC will run 64 bit software:Freda Frostbite wrote:This is gonna really highlight my lack of techie creds, but how does one know if they need the 32 or the 64?
Follow this trail:
Start button-- System and security -- System-- Look for 64 bit operating system. If it says 32 bit operating system, you can't run 64 bit software.
(I have no idea how to get this info from Win 8.)
You already know about this, Freda, but I put it here because somebody else may have the same question. -- SE
