Uploading mesh with textures - Firestorm

Post by Ozwell Wayfarer »

I have been porting a number of houses recently from SL and I cant seem to figure out where the textures are going.

If you export via firestorm to .dae you are given the option to save the textures as part of the .dae, then upon upload you check the "include textures" box and the model is uploaded with the textures already applied.

However, when you enter the texture box in the build menu, the side menu normally jumps to the location of the texture in your inventory. This does not happen in this instance. Where do these textures go? They must be stored somewhere.

Also, say I have a series of houses which use the same textures. I assume firestorm loads the textures into the system fresh with each new model, right? So if each house uses 3 textures, and I upload 2 houses, the number of textures being loaded is 6, not 3. Because firestorm duplicates the textures. Meaning it is probably best for me to not include the textures at all.

This is my assumption but it would be nice to get confirmation.
