Avatar Camera View

Post by Annie Teach »

Hi Everyone, I am hoping you can help me. My default camera keeps swinging up above my avatar like I am a stage light above and slightly behind her. I cannot see where I am walking and I cannot get the default angle back even though I have tried to change this in the Preferences section - it won't give me the angle I need. I have fiddled with camera constraints, but no help. Relogging has not resolved this. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firestorm. The problem started yesterday when I was building. Using the camera I usually use Ctrl + alt + mouse, but suddenly I was several virtual kilometres out to sea with my sim way in the distance. I didn't think this was possible. Not sure if this was related, but hopefully this creates a picture of the situation. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I've not had this problem but, out of curiosity, have you tried temporarily disabling scripts (World/Region details/Debug/Disable scripts/Apply). Also, do you have the same problem on other worlds, e.g. the Kitely Welcome Center?

Thanks Graham. I have tested logging into the Kitely Welcome Centre and the angle unfortunately didn't change. I have managed to set the camera back so that I can see what is in front, but it is not ideal. I will test to see what happens with my second avatar and then look at the script suggestion. Thanks for your input.

Update: I tried a different laptop. All is fine with the angle for both avatars on this second laptop. So I copied the camera view angle details and replicated these on the first laptop. Unfortunately this returned it to the view from above with no forward view. Could I have hit a key combination to reset the laptop to view above the avatar as equating to the horizon? I will explore your script suggestion. Thanks.

Hi Annie,

Have you tested to see if you encounter the same problem when using Singularity?

Hi Ilan, I have just copied the Firestorm program from the second laptop (where it worked fine) and downloaded it to the problem laptop. I am happy to report all is as it should be now. I am still now sure what caused the issue. It was like the camera had flipped 90 degrees and made that the default. Hopefully it doesn't revert!!!! I am wondering if I activated something by accidentaly combining the PC keys which was a shortcut for a function ??? Thank you for your support and to Graham too! :D

Hi Annie,
Way too late that I see this message (as often is the case) but perhaps if this would happen again you might consider to try shift + esc, if I have it well it sets the angle back on default in in many cases is a quick and efficient solution.

Thanks Zed. So far, it has behaved; but it is useful to have this strategy up my sleeve, just in case. Much appreciated.
