Firestorm Beta Clean Install A Success for Mac

Post by Miriam Zhivago »

It seemed all of my viewers quit working properly for my mac recently. Tried clean install on a couple of other viewers without much success. Performed a clean install with Firestorm Beta a few minutes ago. It looks great! Seems to be quite powerful too. Firestorm was lagging for me recently, but with this one, so far, my AV is flying very fast with no lag at all.

Note: Operating Mac 10.8.3 OS X

The next time you experience lag please open the viewer statistics window and check the Sim FPS and Physics FPS numbers. If they are high then the problem is not with server lag but rather with something on your end (network congestion or viewer lag).

Yes, I assumed it was viewer lag, since Firestorm is the only viewer I have had lag with. I was not referring to Kitely as the problem. Where do I find the "Sim FPS and Physics FPS numbers?"

You want to open this window: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/statistics

In Windows the keyboard shortcut for that is CTRL-Shift-1 . I don't know what it is on the Mac.

K…it appears I have it. I am seeing "Sim FPS @ 53.7 and Physics FPS @ 55.0 at present. Is that high? Let me check my AV and see if she is moving ok.

That's almost as high as it can go so yes, those numbers mean the sim is currently lag free. What number are you seeing for FPS? (that is the Viewer FPS you see at the top of that window)

"Basic" is @ 12.0……..CORRECTION: the scrolling number above everything else is ranging between 18.0 and 20.0…and the Basic FPS with the green line is @ 12.0.

That is quite slow. What number do you get when you just stare at the sea and have nothing but ocean showing?
