Please, please, please....
Please, please, please...
My dear Oren and Ilan. Could you please look at a fix for the OpenSim default sits. Later when HG will be enabled and people are dropping in I think the default sits should be fixed. We can work our butts off and create worlds as beautiful as we want but when people want to sit down to enjoy it they will look silly and so will our words;-( I know the sits in OpenSim is broken but LL seems to have fiexed in in SL. Thus why can't we have it fixed here? Please make this a #1 fix.
Kind regards,
Ami

Re: Please, please, please....
How hard is it to detect the surface being clicked, auto-set a target with the same orientation as the surface, and sit on it server side (instead of whatever the heck it does) ?

I use the Magic Sit Kit though that doesn't seem as accurate as it used to be or maybe my avatar has become more asymmetric with age?
I wonder whether there might be a fix that gave slightly less of a catapult effect on standing too.

There has been work on sit logic in OpenSim 0.8.0, so that behavior should improve after it's released and we integrate it into our system.

Re: Please, please, please....
I almost certainly don't really understand the question... but I do have an easy to use little Sit Target System in my Kitely Store (10KC FP and free to anyone that asks me for it).
Will that help address the matter at all?

Re: Please, please, please....
It is s very easy top understand problem Shandon, you point your mouse on an object and choose "sit". then your avatar sits down facing the direction of your mouse. On ledges be sure to point your mouse close to the edge you would like to sit otherwise you could end up facing the other way. In SL this is working very smoothly. In OS and thus also in Kitely this is not working at all. "Sitting" in OS and Kitely makes your avatar float in the air at unpredictable rotation and position. I think a default "sit" is on of the most basic and needed functionality virtual environments should feature.
Please take a look at the picture. On the left we have OpenSim and on the right we have Second Life. Please also look closely at the location of the mouse pointer that triggers the sit. Start with #1.

Re: Please, please, please....
You can use something like that to set the sit target of a prim, but you'd need to do that for every prim (although you can take the script out afterwards - once set, the sit target remains in the prim).Shandon Loring wrote:I almost certainly don't really understand the question... but I do have an easy to use little Sit Target System in my Kitely Store (10KC FP and free to anyone that asks me for it).

I think what Ami wants is for people to sit on anything they like in her regions without her having to set the sit target in each prim. And added to that is the complication of having many different sitting positions on large prims.

Re: Please, please, please.... sit targets
Since OpenSim 0.8 is now on Kitely, is it time to re-visit this thread? Have there been any noticeable changes?Ilan Tochner wrote:There has been work on sit logic in OpenSim 0.8.0, so that behavior should improve after it's released and we integrate it into our system.

Sits seem to have improved a bit.
I don't end up upside down anymore but the direction my avatar will sit after pointing the cursor is opposite compared to SL sit.
