grrr, now i gunna have to avoid myself!!! Marstol!!!!!! [starts with removing all mirrors]

Keep in mind folx, other than those who have not used the HG [many here] if your point is to show those outside of Kitely which regions are HG accessible, then the deciding factor would want to be something simple that is easily identifiable to "those" people, who already know the HG and it is a common thing for them to use.

I wonder if making that a bit darker and adding more concentric circles behind the H might distinguish it better? Maybe a little orange in addition to the Kitely blues would help distinguish the circles too? The smaller it gets, the less visible the circles, but that's going to happen with almost anything. At least with this the H is very identifiable.
The circles (there are five) get progressively fainter towards the centre to assist in the illusion of perspective.

OK, I've made the H a little bigger so it doesn't like as much like the helipad symbol (which has the H much smaller than the circle).

Note that I've removed the inner rings for the 16x16 version. I'm working in Photoshop on a 1024x1024 original, and I don't know enough about PS to make the rings vector shapes, so the reduction is PS's bitmap resizing.

After my last post I realized there were three. With contacts and reading glasses I can now see four. The fifth circle eludes me. I'd like to blame it on my computer, but it's more likely my eyes!

I like Handy's "H" logo, and I fail to understand how it could really be confused with the "Helipad" symbol. I thought the HG badge was only intended to be used on the Kitely world pages to indicate that the world is HG-enabled. I can't imagine a lot of people trying to land helicopters on those pages. Now if the intention is to also use the badge in world I suppose it could be confusing. The owners of worlds like Quayside where helicopters commonly operate in world might have to be careful with that kind of usage. But in general I think the Handy Badge is definitely the right idea.

mmm Better.

But me too on the number of rings, reading glasses and magnifying glass gets me 4.
Perhaps number 5 needs a really hi res monitor.
(Yup, blame the computer)

There are actually 6 now. :)

The 1024 version looks like this (linking rather than embedding because of the size):

Like this, you mean?

I'm not sure - messing about with various settings for that layer, it's either dominant enough to make the logo look cluttered, or so subtle that it doesn't really look like a G. Personally, I don't think we need to represent the G in the logo, and I favour simplicity.

Thanks for trying that out, Handy. I agree with you: the simple version with complete circles works better.
