Metaverse Tours

Post by Serene Jewell »

At this afternoon's Kitely meeting we discussed the idea of conducting tours of Kitely and HG worlds. Good way to get out and see the worlds and meet people. I volunteered to lead tours. So....

First Metaverse Tour with Serene Jewell
Leave Kitely Welcome Center on Thursday, May 29 at Noon PDT.
Approximately one hour long
We will visit at least one Kitely World and one HG world.
Send suggestions for tour destinations to serenejewell@gmail.com

Pack light.

And will there be a repeat? I really wanted to come along, but a prior arrangement prevented me.

Well foo, the date on the posting was wrong. I've corrected it. The first tour is on the 29th at Noon PDT. I hope to make it a weekly thing if people like it.

Re: Destinations, I'd like to go to places that show off Opensim. Suggestions for Kitely and Opensim worlds to visit are welcome here or email me at serenejewell at gmail.com. I'll keep an ongoing list.

Also, I wonder if there is a "how to hypergrid" tutorial already online. If not, I'll make one. I was also thinking of providing a couple of outfits in case people find themselves wearing non-hg pants or hair or whatever like I did!

(Thanks DD for making a graphic for the calendar.)

I'm looking forward to it too! We start at Noon at Kitely Weclome Center. (about 2 hours from now). We will be visiting 2 Kitely worlds and then off to the hypergrid.

Do yourself a favor and pick up copies of the default avatars from the KWC. As I understand it, they are all exportable. So if you try to use hypergrid and get a message that you are wearing something nonexportable, you can replace it with a piece from the KWC welcome avatars.

If all this is too confusing, just show up and we'll help everyone out.

That was most enjoyable -- thank you for organising this, Serene.

Hopefully it will be the first of many tours around Kitely worlds and beyond.

That was fun! Five people joined in at various parts of the tour. We saw Seanchai Library first, which is actually at least eight regions and looks like an amazing project. I plan to check out some of their story telling experiences in the future. Then we went to Skysong which is so beautiful with little hidden areas. Much of this was built by the talented Paislee Myrtle, I believe. Thanks for the wonderful tour of Skysong, Dot. The Devokan worlds alone could keep a grid hopper busy! Then we were off to the hypergrid. We went to Wright Plaza on OSgrid because it is always open, offers freebies, and has a great little travel agency with links to interesting spots around opensim.

Here are the addresses we visited this week.

Seanchai: grid.kitely.com:8002:Seanchai
Sysong: grid.kitely.com:8002:Skysong
Wright Plaza: Wright Plaza Mall, Wright Plaza (196, 31, 21) - General @ http://hg.osgrid.org:80
(CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE RIGHT WAY TO FORMAT THIS ADDRESS?)

Join us next Thursday at Noon PDT for more trips around the grids.

I suggest next time you check out, at the very least.

hypergrid.org:8002:*welcome*

The build is very cool, multi-levels and make sure and cam out and around to see the full region....

Hmmm. I can get to hypergrid.org:8002 by pasting it into my map. But I can't seem to get to hypergrid.org:8002:*welcome* What am I doing wrong, I wonder?
