Hi Roxy, Since this month is going to be about planning, here are some places in Kitely and the market that you might want to visit. I believe most of the worlds are premium, so they should be free for you to visit.

I have a 16 region world called Marcat http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Mar ... ely/Marcat that is terriformed, but doesn't have lots of buildings or stuffs filling it up. I kind of like the openess and while I would like more time to work on it, I'm not in a big hurry to fill it up. Anyway, it will give you a good idea of what a 4x4 with sailable water, surrounding islands is like. I have some very cool creatures and boats courtesy of talented Kitely creators. Following are some of their worlds and Kitely Market stores:

Kayaker Magic has sailboats, motorboats, surfboards, ride-able waves, sea creatures, land creatures, air creatures and much more. All of it is scripted beautifully. He also sells the components for you to make your own boats. You can see his creations at Panthalassa http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Kay ... anthalassa and his store Ocean Engineering is here http://www.kitely.com/market?store=2987977

Min Tigerpaw has beachwear fashion and beach towels with an animation menu for starters. Mins Creation Island is here http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Min ... ion-Island and her store is here http://www.kitely.com/market?store=2045824

Booland Du is a great little seaside town created by Booland Roju who also has a highly rated steampunk boat and a personal hover vehicle at the market. Booland is here http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Mar ... Booland-Du and Boos Good Stuff is here http://www.kitely.com/market?store=2557075

Daniel Hoffman's surreal Transgenia http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Dan ... Transgenia has cool free to copy items (as do many of the Kitely worlds) and his store has some alien creatures and plants that are for or can be adapted to land water and air http://www.kitely.com/market?store=3472562

Kelth Selmes has a world called Quayside with air, water and land vehicles http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Kei ... Quayside-2, some of which may be available to visitors. His store has a couple of vehicles you can put scripts into if you have them http://www.kitely.com/market?store=2086668

Amiryu Hosoi brought her well known creations from SL to Kitely. Here is a link to boats and a couple of other items in her store Hosoi Ichiba, Japanese Furniture, Buildings & Lifestyle: http://www.kitely.com/market?q=boat&store=2570982 She offers many, many more items for sale.

Christina's Store has a ghost ship for sale http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Chr ... /Ghostship

I'm sure there are more worlds and stores that have some beach, boating and flying themes, but this is a fair start.

There are also free terrain and OAR files (I think Minethere already gave you a link to hers) that you might find useful. You can visit Justin Reeves Undersea Observatory and get a link to the free OAR file http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Jus ... bservatory. Opensim Creations has free OARs and content too http://opensim-creations.com/2010/07/04 ... ore-waves/

Hi Roxy,

You have water in Kitely, it's just important to remember that Kitely worlds are separate, you can't sail between them (though you can have gates that teleport you between them). So if you want a big ocean you need to create a big world that will contain it.

There is also wind in Kitely. The default is random wind but you can make it configurable as well using an option in the world's Access tab (in that world's Manage World dialog).

Not to be a killjoy, but may I suggest only going for a full 16 region setup if you think you can fill it and/or will actually use the space.

It is amazing how much land you can get in Kitely for such a low price, but amazing quickly turns into daunting as heck once you realize you have to fill that land with stuff.

Dont get me wrong, if you want a super huge sandbox, or have some real use for all that space then great! But if your just venturing out of SL and want a home-base and a bit of space to build, it might be overkill. It is very easy to add regions later, and the Premium package comes with 5 regions, which means you could have 5 single regions or 1 singe region and a 2x2. The latter was my previous setup.

I just upgraded a region from 2x2 to 3x3 (so from 4 to 9 full regions) and while I love it and its the "right" size for what I want to do, I often find myself staring blankly at the screen or wandering round aimlessly thinking what on earth I should possibly do next.
That is a problem I initially ran into. I had two 2x2 Worlds and realized that I just didn't have the time to populate them.

That being said, I did just scrap my Cyber Themed 2x2 world and am remaking it as a 4x4 (and wishing I had kept my grandfathered plan with 30 regions). Not sure how I will fill it, but I did find for the cityscape I was wanting to build that the 4x4 was beginning to feel a little cramped. 90% of the buildings will probably just be empty facades initially, but it can develop over time. It can be daunting to fill that much space, but still fun to have the option.

I don't make any attempt to make money here, so for me it is just a cost I pay to support a hobby. I was paying $75 month for 1/4 Sim in SL, and $6 for my membership.

So now in Kitely I have 20 Regions, 80x the amount of space to build, and it's still costing me less than half what I was paying in SL. If by some weird fluke my builds suddenly became really popular, it might move the cost up closer to what I was paying in SL, but I'd still be getting a much bigger bang for my buck.

Firstly thanks to Marstol for the mention of Booland Du and my store:)

Secondly to Roxy, I missed proper sailing in Kitely too, but I did manage to build a sailing boat prototype. It's a project I can't donate much time to at the moment so I've decided to leave a box out on the dock where anyone can buy a free mod/copy version and anyone is welcome to develop it. The script which I found on the 'net is modify too. There's a boat on the water there too to try, hopefully it's set so anyone can use it. Let me know if not. Left and right arrows to steer, forward and backward arrows to trim the sails, and wind and other stuff is displayed on a simple text display.

Enjoy!

Events are nice and talking about them is even nicer.
However, we do have to bring in more people before we can start any gathering that is worth the name event.
Promotions is , again, the keyword.

With hypergating enabled here having events and getting attendance is just a matter of promoting them in places other than here, in addition too, such as using google+ or other places...my preference it g+...where people throughout the greater Meta roam.

I do some but I can't do much of that anymore, but I do still try.
