The following short poems, cinquain, were created by Freda Frostbite and Shiloh Emmons on 12-3-2019 in the poetry building workshop at Belle Terre.

Shelf Elf
"Good cheer, merry!"
or so he says, the sneak...
hiding gifts, baubles, and candy...
or coal.

Gliding
Smooth strides on glass
Strides forward moving fast
Moving Twirling Blades on smooth ice
Graceful

Today we made Nonets, another short form of poetry. Following are some examples of what we created.

christmas ornaments out of their place
other Christmases spent in cold
this year sparkle in the sun
in my new life so strange
I bring warm tidings
with these old friends
to seagulls
and sand
Joy!

Winter falls like bricks clobbering all
who rest unknowing in the dark
Naive sleepers think themselves
protected by blankets
and gas heat. Morning
comes on the wind -
fowl blizzard
speaks harsh
truth.

French spoken flows from hearing to mind
mediated by written word
chapters of Proust so divine
rendered telepathic
in wishes and dreams
but not for me
I did not
learn French
Sighs
