Not able to apply materials

Post by Jack Spade »

Materials don't appear to be working properly yet. I can apply them as long as I'm editing the object, but as soon as I stop editing it the materials data is lost. I'm on Firestorm 4.5.1 (38838) in the region Quantum 23 (SLURL: hop://osgrid.kitely.com:8002/Quantum%2023/100/139/129) running advanced lighting; about > Firestorm shows OpenSim 0.7.6 Post_Fixes

Which textures are you using for the Normal and Specular maps? I want to try applying them myself to see what happens.

Oren, I'm using the blank texture for specular. I'll send you the normal map texture in world. Problem reproduces when applied to a default cube.

This bug was fixed in today's update. Materials should persist now.

I think the bug was fixed and materials persisting now but i got another problem when i try to upload the product to market. I got this "error" from debug system "Missing default material: f46ba065-8dd0-a057-add2-65b9cffe3242" and when i return materials setings to default all is ok.

That's how it's supposed to work :)

Currently materials are implemented in an usual manner, which is why they don't work in Kitely Market (among other things). Once we change how materials are implemented they'll work in Kitely Market.

I have the same problem. I tried to set up a house in the market, but got that error "Missing default material: 7a46d3d7-729a-82dc-7400-8f4a21ad3833". I isolated that part, uploaded it again, materials are on default (no materials), still that error...
It's a mesh part with just one face, no materials, just one diffuse map

We have updated materials support, and now it's possible to use materials in products in Kitely Market.

Hi Minethere, there are two new blog posts about them already - I'll be adding them to the forums in the next hour (so no beating me to the punch please :-)).
