Re: Is Imprudence the best (or only?) viewer for importing?

I just did a straight download and install of Kokua 3.6.1.
This appears to be the latest version, from a blogpost dated June 29th, which has some comments about bug fixes.

I cannot find a KokuaViewer.exe in the folder, and the desktop shortcut targets KokuaTest.exe
Perhaps they changed something ? Might be relevant ?

I haven't tested with Kitely plug in yet, I believe I would have to modify that as it will load Firestorm if I use it.

On the first point about using Imprudence, I see that Kokua has a different extension for importing linksets.
I don't know if this is better than Imprudence, but if one already has a directory of Imprudence xml files, Kokua may not be very useful. Equally for exchanging files, for example at OpenSim Creations or OpenSim City, Imprudence is what many have been using for some time, and it isn't easy to change everything now.
Even if we use other formats - like dae for example - we will continue using Imprudence until either this kind of file transfer becomes unnecessary, or the stored files are no longer required, or we have all agreed a new standard, which would make it worth transferring existing material to a new format. So many of us, even if we standardize on a mesh enabled viewer, will keep Imprudence for odd jobs and especially file transfers.

Of course these considerations needn't affect anyone for their personal needs, if they don't already have Imprudence xml files, and they aren't importing from elsewhere, they don't really need Imprudence, and Kokua is probably a better solution.

No, it's
Windows 64-bit: "C:\Program Files (x86)\KokuaViewer\KokuaTest.exe"

I'm interested in Kokua because it's enabled the new mapping in textures, which I'm still learning how to do.

Hi Ada,

We'll look into supporting the new installation path Kokua uses.

Thank you Ilan! No hurry, I'll do the workaround until you get to it.

I have added the new Kokua path ("C:\Program Files (x86)\KokuaViewer\KokuaTest.exe"), so you should see Kokua in the list of installed viewers now.
