Summary: Five full yays and two half yays. No nays.
People tend to go off-topic
At least it shows some sort of enthusiasm!

All-Kitely Party-- the discussion continues

Ok so that seems an adequate number of yays to continue discussion on this idea.
I am willing to organize an all-kitley party with input from others. I have several questions. Answer whatever you feel you have an answer to. I will try to keep up and follow the tangents.
1. WHERE should we have such a party? My own personal preference would be having it at the KWC because that is our shared communal space. But what do others think? Are there reasons we should not have it at the KWC? Is there somewhere more appropriate?
2. WHEN should we have such a party? I'm asking which month, not time of day because time of day is an impossible conundrum in virtual worlds. There is NO time that will suit everyone. All I can do on that front is attempt to choose the best time possible, knowing I cannot make everyone happy. But what month? For my own liking, this should not happen til end of June at the earliest. But what about others?
3. There should be music and dancing. What else?
4. Have we got musicians who do live music in Kitely? Have we any DJs amongst us?
That's enough to start with, I think.

BigRed Coyote did a terrific DJ job for us.. I will ask him to contact you Freda if he is interested and available.
Thank you for spearheading this!

I just read Ami's post more carefully. At the last community meeting, I was asked directly to start this conversation and to take on the project, I said I would do that because it is something I do well. If anyone thinks they can handle party planning better than I, they are welcome to let me know and I will hand this off to them. I do not have a degree in party-planning -- Is there such a degree? Probably.

Go for it, Freda.
Personal opinion: I don't think the community is big enough yet to be organised into specialist teams.
What matters more is enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in, and work together informally. That's the way we will build up the community, and in the process add to our own skills and knowledge, and have fun.
Part of the pleasure of virtual worlds is being able to do things one might be excluded from in "real life". It opens up vast opportunities for different types of creativity.

The above para-quote from Ilan seems to support your efforts also Freda... as do I for certain!
And as Dot says, what matters is enthusiasm and willingness... and YOU got those Freda for certain!!
So, for me, I echo Dot... "Go For It!!"

Freda Frostbite wrote:and here I thought it was such a simple question. "Do you want an all-Kitely party or not?" Straight-forward. Yes or no answer. Simple.
Evidently not.

Freda's right. For long-term planning, it's a great idea to come up with some sort of regular get-together, and figure out how it will work and where to hold it, and whether the Kitely overlords will be presiding.
For the short-term though, my answer to the simple question is Yes! When is it going to be, and where, and I hope i can make it

1. KWC works for me.
2. Completely up to you.
3. Music, dancing, socializing... Sounds like a party to me.
4. I like Shandon Loring's idea.
The main difference between profession and avocation is money (and in some cases passion). Keep up the good work.
