I don't want to complicate things but I just thought of this...

Would be good if there was a group joiner for this at the Kitely Plaza arrival point.

In fact, if someone would like to make a group joiner for this and make them available...any of us who have an appropriate type of sim with a main landing point (or info area) could add it. That would be a good way for both newcomers and those who don't use the forums to learn of the group's existence.

So, should I take it from three weeks of silence on this topic, that this idea doesn't cut it with Kitely?

I'm new to the community, but my perception so far is that event coordination is necessary to get in world community really clicking. One advantage of Kitely's current size is that we should be able to form and shape a really good, really easy to access 'What's happening' schedule of events in Kitely. I'd even suggest that very active users could start thinking of events they might host periodically to start to fill such a calendar.

The first question most users have upon entering a world is 'what can i do'? isn't it? I think that social activities formed as events can be an excellent way to bring together communities.

I agree, an organized easily viewable and editable schedule will be ideal.

There is already a group joiner in Kitely Plaza under a different name (requiring you to click a sign to get it). It's currently focused on Kitely Plaza related activities. Should we repurpose that to a more broad definition?

Yes, Ilan, that works. Gives a place to promote the Plaza but the rest of Kitely inworld goings-on as well.

Again, I go back to having a forums category under General Kitely along with a group by the same name.

Here's a new name idea: Kitely Daily Channel

Even though my original Chit Chat & Stuff was just an example, I've come to think it's a very good name for both the group and the forums category. But if you're going to use it as an "official" place to announce Events, it probably doesn't cut it. And some people won't join a group that says Events in it because they don't care about events or they think they'll be bombarded by group notices. So today I thought of Kitely Main Channel as an option but after further thinking Kitely Daily Channel sounds more friendly and implies that the day to day stuff of Kitely will be discussed or announced here, not just "official" stuff.
