Hi nikita,

There are two main types of worlds in Kitely. The first type are worlds that provide unlimited free access, meaning someone pays a fixed price per month for them and everyone can enter them for free without it costing them anything (just like land owned in SL). The other type are worlds that are set for time-based billing, meaning that the person who creates them pas between zero and $1/month per region but everyone (including the world manager) is charged for the minutes they spend in that world (like mobile phone minutes).

Each Kitely account is on some some sort of plan that includes a certain quota of free monthly minutes that can be spent in time-based billing regions and a certain number of free time-based billing regions you can create on that plan. The Free Plan, for example. includes 120 minutes of time you can spend in worlds that charge for time and 1 free time-based region you can use to create a world.

As such, (assuming you're both on the Free Plan and have not upgraded your world to provide unlimited free access) you and your boyfriend can each create a world in your respective accounts and spend a total of up to 2 hours/month in those worlds (and other time-based billing worlds). If you want to spend more time inworld then you'll need to either go to someones unlimited free access world, switch one of your worlds to that mode, or upgrade your plans to ones that include more time inworld (there is also the option to pay for time a la carte using Kitely Credits).

It takes time to fully understand the benefits of having all these options so please don't worry if it sounds complicated. To learn more I suggest you read: http://www.kitely.com/services

If it sounds complex, don't worry, both of you just log on and enjoy yourself, it costs nothing unless you want it to :)

On Kitley free means free for low (minutes) usage, you do not need to pay out a single penny. In fact, you can make something free, put it on the market free, and earn in world currency and/or real dollar money from the item, all without spending any real money. You can even upgrade using currency earned from the market.

Kitely is as cheap as you want it to be. Play/build/shop first, visit the many free worlds(where someone else pays for your time online with their generosity) if you run out of minutes, upgrade as you need to and as you are able, Kitely is well worth upgrading :D Upgrading gives you more time online, and more prims/space/worlds/sims/regions to build in. As Ilan says, it just takes a little while to realise just how awesome Kitley is.

You don't need to worry about sim-on-a-stick unless you need to run a private copy of your sim/world/region at home.

Enjoy and welcome !

Sim-on-a-stick isn't really an inventory management/transfer tool, it's a Sim-on-a-stick if you need your own private sim/world/region/grid at home. Some people (like Sarge & Minethere above) love building at home. Personally, I'm used to building online where people can come over, say hello and help with the build. Kitely has plenty of permissions available if you want to build in private or restrict access to your world though.

OAR files are for storing entire opensim sims/regions/worlds on your own computer, and can downloaded/uploaded from a Kitely world page you own. Objects downloaded will respect object permissions :) OAR files are generally more reliable than trying to move objects with the viewer or inventory management tools. Skins, eyes and the like can be moved around in OARs inside prim objects. OARs are no use whatsoever with SL :)

There are a few threads floating around in various places for uploading and moving content from SL to Kitely. I've had limited success uploading objects created elsewhere personally. Single object transfer (as opposed to whole sim transfer with OARs) is dependant on the viewer/transfer system used. Good luck - if you have the textures, you can easily recreate clothing and similar.

I downloaded sim-on-a-stick, that went ok, i used stored inventory to do a test outfit and skin/shape/eyes.
All went ok, all the icons for shape, skin, eyes were as they should be.
I could wear the shape, skin and eyes
So as far as the sim on a stick goes everything went well.
I have ton of stuff to put on there all my skins and avatars and fashions;
That will take some time, and hopefully when the time comes to transfer the OAR file, everything will upload to Kitely ok.
Thanks for all the help, i am impressed with all the help i got,

Hi nikita,

We should be finished with the upgrade to OpenSim 0.7.6 within the next two weeks, after which Second Inventory should work the same as it did with sim-on-a-stick (SOAS). In the meantime, if you want to list a few thing in our marketplace before all your content is in SOAS then simply rezz whatever you have uploaded into your SOAS region and save an OAR file of that region. You can then use that to create a new Kitely world (or replace the contents of an existing one). Once done, copy the content from that Kitely world into your inventory and you'll be ready to list it in Kitely Market.

I actually recommend you do this and not wait until you have everything transfered into SOAS - you'll probably want to have at least some of your listings ready when we enable delivery to hypergrid-connected grids and creating good listings can take time (make sure to read our blog and online documentation for pointers on how to use all the relevant features).

Nikita,

Kitely is the ONLY grid to allow it's customers the freedom to import their own OARs, whether created and designed by them, or otherwise freely available in the Meta.

This is really a game-changer and I expect, eventually, others will do something similar...it is THAT good. Ones that do not, will find themselves falling further and further behind the tech curve and become less and less relevant.

As a watcher of all things Metaverse and especially the Opensim side of it, I find Kitely very refreshing in not only allowing this, but several other things, and also being extremely transparent.

Ilan and Oren have shown this avatar [and the human behind her] they are very much worth watching, participating in, and spreading the good news.

You will not find any other commercial grid [other than SL who seems to not really care, yet, in most but not all regards] who is so invested in letting adults make adult decisions, and giving them the tools to do so.

When HG is enabled this grid will likely get much attention from the rest of the Meta, most of whom are HG enabled [such as mine in another grid] and it behooves folks here to get ready for that.

In the meantime, other commercial grids, are, and will be continuing, to do whatever they can to keep their own residents and content inside, mostly using disinformation in several regards, but, they will fail. This may mean a bit more nastiness will come about in blogs and comments and such from those quarters...this is to be expected.

[this has been my morning PSA and my mind will likely not let me be so long-winded after this!!!]
