I was in fact a high school student and fan of Ray Stevens when that song was released, so I remember it very well.

Thanks for the lighthearted blast from the past. :D
Welcome-)))) actually, part of the post was inclined towards pointing out the reality, that though some may not like it, and neither do I, that the western world has become more conservative since then.

What was fine during those times [and it was some amazing times!!] is not so much fine anymore. Sexual graphics, of any kind, are now considered porn, which the video highlights in the cartoon parts...the problem is that laws are always on a slippery slope, once implemented in good meaning ways, they often then become warped into something else entirely, and such is the case with cartoons which may depict sexuallity. [and, no, I don't wish to discuss politics!!]

To my viewpoint, this entire conversation is related to fictitious avatars, none of us really looks as we do in rl...in the past this would have been ok, and not relevant, and in the past, as the wheel turns [RIP James Oliver Rigney, Jr aka Robert Jordan], it would have been ok, but not so much, nowadays.

Just another facet of playing to the lowest common denominator, which I dislike...but reality makes me realize there is nothing that can be done about it, so I accept whatever is done here, in the matter.

The world has become more conservative in the past 40 years? Well, yes and no.

Remember the classic routine by the great comedian George Carlin (R.I.P.)? "Seven words you can't say on television." This was first released on Carlin's 1972 comedy album, Class Clown.
By the mid-80s Carlin had expanded the list tremendously and actually ended one of his HBO comedy specials by standing on stage reading from a ludicrously long piece of paper that rolled out onto the floor for comic effect. The paper contained a list of dozens of words and phrases (many of them variations or synonyms of the original seven) of a filthy nature that Carlin read while the closing credits rolled.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words

The weird thing is that here in 2014 you can actually say at least two of the original seven words in primetime on broadcast television without them being bleeped. In fact it could well be argued that public discourse has become cruder in general than it was 40 years ago.

Meanwhile, Miney's point about attitudes towards sexual graphics being more conservative is spot on. In fact anything involving children and the slightest hint of sex is practically treated as though it was radioactive these days. They even arrest small children for behavior in primary school that would have been considered harmless horseplay 40-50 years ago and try to treat these children who are just engaging in basic exploratory behavior as sexual deviants and criminals. It's completely insane.

So the world has gotten both more liberal... and more conservative... over the past 40 years.

I was lucky enough to see George Carlin perform live too - it was wonderful. Alas, both George and the theater where I saw him are now gone. :(

(Edited for grammar.)
