Quayside Open Flying Day 17th December 2013
Posted: Sat Dec 14, 2013 1:14 pm
On 17th December 1903 the first powered aeroplane flight took place at Kill Devil Hills, on the outer banks of North Carolina USA.
On 17th December 2013, Quayside world in Kitely will open for a free flying day.
Several aircraft will be available, including a model of the Wright brothers 1903 flyer, the one that made the first flight.
Visitors on the 17th will not need to use up their own minutes, and those who join the group Quayside Drivers will be able to copy the planes and helicopters available and rez them on the group sandbox. The aircraft will be no mods and no transfer, and will only work in Quayside.
This means group members who pick up an aircraft will have a version in their inventory that is a static model elsewhere, but they can fly them for free on the 17th.
After the 17th they will still be able to visit and fly them in Quayside if they wish, using their own minutes.
At the moment, the aircraft are working OK, and tested with alts, so I think they are good to go for a free day, but they are not completely finished, which is why they are not yet being completely given away or offered for sale.
There are currently four airplanes and two helicopters prepped for use.
If there's time to get them ready, there may be other vehicles available.
The aircraft are set to fly with a certain amount of realism, but slow enough to be usable in one region, and with very simple controls.
Quayside has been a single region private world, but is now four regions. It will probably remain a public world after 17th, but perhaps not with free minutes, except for special occasions.
Opening times
Almost forgot, 17th December from UTC+12 to UTC-12, I'm assuming an Internet day is 48 hours, from New Zealand to Kiribati.
I'm UTC 0, and I don't promise to be awake the whole time (!)
For me, the worldwide 17th is from 1200 on the 16th to 1200 on the 18th. (I think).
