I know, I know -- many of you have no clue what a tanka is. This is your chance to find out and to create one of your very own! Just come on over to Poesy and follow the directions posted here in The Creativity Zone. Before you know it, you will be a published poet!

P.S. Tanka are short, simple poems with Japanese routes. Think Haiku+.

I have no earthly idea what a tanka is, so I'll be right over.

I certainly hope you will go and try it out. Tanka are really simple to write. More information on my website.

Oh my! Three Kitely citizens have contributed tanka to the Tanka Time event going on all month on Poesy. They really are lovely!

Here is a link to my website where I have posted the tanka and where you can find instructions for how to participate in Tanka Time! C'mon folks, be bold!

When I click the blog link, I get a content warning message about material "only suitable for adults" possibly being on the blog, asking me if I wish to continue. Is that a general Google/Blogger thing?

Here's the Wikipedia article about Tanka poems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka

That is something I have chosen to put on my websites. Once, ages ago, a friend complained to me that she was reading a poem on one of my websites and it was sort of sexy and she had not expected that and her 13 year old was reading over her shoulder. Frankly, I thought that was an absurd reason to be upset but, in the ineterest of not being slammed with absurd content complaints in the future, I put that warning on all my sites. Kinda the same reason my sims are all moderate or Adult, never general.

Also, not surprisingly, the content warning actually attracts people to sites. I should have seen that coming, I suppose but was shocked when my stats went through the roof after adding it.

I think it is absurd also, but, unfortunately, in this world of "take no responsibility for your own selves" it is common now.

That person, on the other hand, likely did not even watch over her child's shoulders whenever she/he was on the net.

Of course, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I had previously had my region here marked as adult for the same reasons, a just in case type of thinking just to avoid hassles of any kind.

oh well, c'est la vie

Hello pretty people, this is your friendly neighborhood poetry lady talking (not so different from the Twin Peaks Log Lady, sad to say) -- get thee to Poesy and try out tanka. Seriously, it's not hard. Not hard at all. Let's show those folks on all those other poetry places that we have it goin' on in Kitely. Seriously, tanka your hearts out!
