The world resize tool is up and running!

It is very easy to use.

From experience, to do this sort of thing using a SoaS setup requires long complicated console commands and a lot of careful thought, which goes to show how clever this Kitely tool is.

The first step is to make a backup of the current world, using either Copy World or Export World. The interface advises this and explains why you should do so:
World Resize Dialog Box wrote:Warning: resizing the world is a complicated operation, and it can't be undone. Resizing the world may delete prims; make Landmarks, Classifieds and User Picks stop working; and change the names of the regions in the world.
Then it's a simple matter of following the instructions in the blog post.

Presumably this is upsize only?

Hi Graham,

You can both increase a world's size and decrease it. I highly recommend reading the blog post announcement for details.

I've resized Intersections from a single region to a 2x2 megaregion, leaving the original in the SW corner.

The original build included offsim elements which seem to have carried over without problem.

The 2x2 version is initially a non-Advanced megaregion, making it straightforward to change the textures on the newly added flat terrain as a first step.

wow awesome! did several iterations both ways from/to 1, 4, 9, & 16 moving regions all about in both. very smooth very well done. yeah, it cost me several hundred KC but was worth it for the education and coolness factor.

i did like the interface we used before for this kind of thing (i.e. Dot!), but this one works great too!

might there come a time we could mix n match seperate OARs or 1x1 regions together into a larger world. such as take 4 seperate 1x1s and arrange them as we want into a single 2x2?

love the innovation Ilan, Oren! great work, great tool. thank you!!

Hi Shandon,

The work we did now for resizing and moving worlds will come in handy if/when we implement the option to replace individual regions inside a world. That said, implementing that feature is not at the top of our priority list.

This kind of automation and intuitive solutions are the ones that set Kitely apart from others, not having to contact staff for every major change
