Sounds and Textures not transfering

Hi all.

I just gave a customer a gift--a new water fountain. But she couldn't see the proper particle textures--just rectangles. Also, hers wouldn't play the water sounds. I visited her land and rezzed a copy of the fountain beside hers. The one I rezzed did play water sounds that we both could hear. But neither of us could hear any sounds from the one she rezzed.

Both scripts are using UUID's for the sound and texture. I've never had a problem with this before. Am I right in thinking the UUID's might be the issue?

Did you give her the fountain inworld or via Kitely Market?

Does the copy you gave her still include the script and other objects that were contained in the gift?

The object was transformed to her by sliding it onto her profile picture in Firestorm.
The lady is the one who's picture is at the top of the Kitely web page now. I have lost her name at the moment, silly me. If I could get that name, I'll touch bases with to check on that.

Sorry to be dense, but I not sure I understand what that has to do with this.

I've been using scripts this way for years and never had a problem. We should have been able to hear the sound from her copy. We could only hear the sound from the new copy I rezzed on her land from my inventory.

Please give my avatar a copy of the fountain, I'd like to check this. Also: where is this fountain in your inventory (the folders path)?

Some old time wisdom here... if anyone is interested. If you are making a product which you wish to allow to transfer "out of grid" meaning it's "home grid" via a store/marketplace, Hypergrid, IAR or OAR you should include your textures, sounds and included objects with appropriate perms.

UUIDS as used for sounds or images etc cannot be assured that they will be correctly resolved if external to the object. Additionally, each & every UUID is unique (hence why they are used) and the same 'sound file' will have a unique UUID for each copy of it and a unique one on each grid / standalone that it is copied to. Alternately, you could locate these files on a web-server of some sort and access them via advanced http & scripting for it but that is tedious and unreliable.

Oren, sorry, but I may have inadvertently deleted that version of the fountain in trying to address the problem. If I can locate it again, I'll give you the info.

(Whitestar, thank you--that's a good tip. But in this case, I'm not transferring anything out of grid.)
