As someone who plans inworld events, I try hard not to schedule events at the same time anyone else has scheduled one. In Sl, that is neither possible nor important, but while Kitely is still relatively small, I think it behooves us all not to double book events, thus forcing potential event guests to choose between events. To that end , I just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that there are actually TWO event calendars for Kitely. One is a Google calendar operated by Handy Low and Selby Evans. The other is an inworld events board run by Dundridge Dreadlow. I find that Dun's calendar is awesome for publicizing events but that the Google calendar is good for scheduling because one can look at it and see every public event currently scheduled for Kitely. I have the Kitely Google calendar linked to my own Google calendar, so that I can easily see what other folks have planned when I am planning events for my regions.
If you are someone who does events in Kitely, I urge you to make contact with Handy about the Google calendar and with Dun about the events board. That way can avoid having two public dances (or two anythings) scheduled for the same period of time. I think there will come a day in the not too distant future when Kitely is so full, we will have to deal with double booked events, but for right now, it makes sense to me to avoid that situation.

Re: Using the events calendars
Freda's recommendation is important. It will be great when there are so many events in Kitely that there will have to be competing events. But for now, a better situation will be to have several events a day, all at different times. And note that Freda can access the Google calendar on the web. She can even merge it with her own calendar to look for open times to schedule events.Freda Frostbite wrote:As someone who plans inworld events, I try hard not to schedule events at the same time anyone else has scheduled one. And people (on the Hypergrid, for example) can check Kitely events in their browser to see if there is any reason to come over to Kitely. They can even check the Kitely calendar in their own grid if they put up a one-prim poster displaying the calendar.
If you have a place on another Hypergrid-enabled grid, you may want to think about putting a Kitely Calendar poster there. You can pick up a copy of the poster on Cookie II.
hop://osgrid.kitely.com:8002/Cookie II/141/104/22
There is a calendar poster there and it should be full perm and free to copy. (If not, IM me and I will send you a copy.) Just put the poster in your suitcase before you go.
And if you are setting up an event on the calendar, remember to give the HG address (on the web page for your world) along with instructions on how to find the event site from the HG arrival point. You can give all of that in the description.
If you create events in Kitely, you can get authorization to post on the Google calendar. Just IM Handy Low.

Re: Using the events calendars
I just want to say it is wonderful to see the calendar for Sunday all chock full of event goodness. It feels like there is steady, healthy growth in the Kitely community and lots of places for new folks to hang out and get to know people. Well done, Kiteleans!
