Read my post again, Carlos. I said there ARE cheaper ways on other grids, because there are. I also said that there are reasons one might choose Kitely anyway.

Re: Premium Worlds and costs -- the facts
It's time for a summary. To standardise comparisons I'm using the maximum discount rate of 300 KC per US dollar, which you get when you buy $50+ worth of KCs.
Server resources for Premium vs. Fixed Price Worlds
Based on Alexina's numbers, a Community Library/Theater event lasting 90-120 minutes with 49-60 Regular/HG visitors would cost between 4410 KC for 90 min+49 visitors and 7200 KC for 120 min+60 visitors, or US$ 14.70-24.00 per event.
Costs of regular events
Costs of additional Premium Regions
Freda touched on this. Each Premium Account includes five Premium Regions to use in any Premium World configuration. Poesy, a 2x2 Premium World, uses one of her included Premium Regions, so she pays 10 KC per day for each additional Premium Region: "In addition, there are world storage fees of 30 KC per day. That's roughly $3.00 per month" -- that is, about US$ 1.00 per additional Premium Region per month.

Costs of keeping Premium Worlds open for Regular/Hypergrid explorationIlan wrote:Starter Worlds and Standard Worlds get the same amount of server resources as Premium Worlds, while Advanced Worlds actually get more server resources than any other world type. We place between 1 and 4 worlds per server, depending on world load, and the cheaper fixed-price world types simply have defined max prims counts and avatar concurrencies that are lower than those of Premium Worlds and Advanced Worlds. Regardless, performance for a Start[er] World should be the same as for a similarly-sized Premium World with the same amount of prims, scripts and avatars.
Costs of well-attended one-off eventsDot wrote:The highest monthly total came to about 10 Regular/HG visitor hours, or about 600 KC, or just 2 US dollars total for the month.
Paislee reported on the later Hypergrid Safari visit to Imladris: 22 avatars, around 30-45 minutes each. Actual total cost 535 KC, or US$ 1.79 at the max. [At the max. KC/$ discount rate, this would be US$ 2.84.]

Re: Premium Worlds and costs -- the facts
Ok, I see but I visited so many Kitely Worlds that I can say for sure there is a Lag differenceIlan Tochner wrote:Hi Carlos,

But I remembered something I have forgotten before thanks to your answer Ilan
Starter 1 Region worlds have less prim allowance so when people finish building them the prims are near the limit and therefore the Lag while Premium 1 Region worlds always stay with prims quite far from limit so there is a non used prim buffering but is a fact some Single region worlds have terrible Lag issues - Gallery 8 is one of them for example
And Im careful with my viewer settings, draw distance etc - as I said I visit some Single Worlds filled with prims that have no Lag at all

Sorry, Carlos, but could this thread keep focused on the topic of costs, please? I suggest starting a new thread if you want to continue discussing differences between regions with respect to resources and perceived lag. Thanks!

Re: Premium Worlds and costs -- the facts
I understand your point of course but I believe this relates a bit because we are discussing options about cost and efficiency and in the end our goals are the same - what will we pay in different pricing systems and what do we have to loose by choosing those different pricing systems so Lag and performance should count when looking for the best price-cost optionsDot Matrix wrote:Sorry, Carlos, but could this thread keep focused on the topic of costs, please? But ok, I will stop this issue, sorry

Re: Premium Worlds and costs -- the facts
Hi Carlos,
The maximum number of prims allowed per world type doesn't effect server resource allocation. The differences in perceived lag may have had to do with differences in the number of textures used in those worlds and how much effort is required by your graphics card to render them. When trying to compare lag between worlds please look at the difference between the Sim FPS not the Viewer FPS. Viewer FPS has little to do with server resources and a lot to do with your own computer's capabilities.
Again, there is no server resource allocation difference between the world types, except in the case of Advanced Worlds which do get more server resources than the other world types.

Re: Premium Worlds and costs -- the facts
Here are some ready reckoners by which you can work out the cost of different durations of events on Premium Worlds attended by different numbers of Regular/HG attendees. Remember that Premium attendees are free!
Small events on Premium Worlds (up to 10 Regular/HG attendees)
Cost in US dollars when buying KC at the maximum discount rate (1 USD = 300 KC)
Cost in US dollars when buying KC at the lower discount rate (1 USD = 250 KC)
Cost in US dollars when buying KC at no discount (1 USD = 200 KC)
Large one-off events on Premium Worlds (20 to 50 Regular/HG attendees)
Cost in US dollars when buying KC at the maximum discount rate (1 USD = 300 KC)
Cost in US dollars when buying KC at the lower discount rate (1 USD = 250 KC)
Small events on Premium Worlds (up to 10 Regular/HG attendees)
