I think I know what caused this message. This world was having particular problems starting (before we rolled back our changes), so I performed some experiments on a copy. I remember seeing lots of these auto-return messages, and apparently a message was sent to you via IM as well.
If you don't intend to use auto-return then it's recommended to turn it off. Auto-return won't return your own objects, but it will do that if you ever put in that parcel an object that is owned by someone else.
