Rental section at forum?

Post by Pixellada Com »

I was wondering if there is possible to add section with land rental offers at forum. Do you think it would be helpful? (Of course if land renting is allowed in Kitely :) )

We'll consider it once there are enough people who want to offer this type of service.

I understand there is always needed some critical mass to push technical changes but visible rental section will attract more people to consider staying. Creation a new forum section takes only several minutes.

It's not so much how long it takes to create a forums thread but what effect doing so can have on our own business. If landlords buy enough worlds themselves then this offsets the revenue loss we may have from helping them attract people to their land renting business at the expense of their customers opting to get worlds directly from us. As the dynamic isn't clear yet, we aren't rushing to take a proactive step to promote land rentals on the our system at this time.

Just to be clear, land rentals are allowed. Until further notice, the proper place to post about them is the Service Providers section of our forums.

Land rentals wouldn't seem to be a loss of income to Kitely, but more an increase. Renters don't want to buy land, terraform, build a house, script the doors and lights, and build a dance club to party in. They want to show up, decorate, and socialize. I think renters and estate managers are two different audiences and helping estate managers become successful means they will purchase more worlds from you.

There is no loss/gain situation when the visitor will not stay because is looking for other solution than offered. But I can see your point of view. Anyway I can see it also as win-win opportunity. Not all are builders and educators and most just want cosy house ready for them. That is added value by landlords that is priceless.
Of course Kitely can create sims as LL did with premium account and in that case yes - there would be competition as in SL. But anyway most people abandon Linden Homes and search for adjusted, private environment.
Of course we just discuss here. We will see what will be in the future.

As stated, land rentals are allowed in Kitely. We'll see what effect they have on our bottom line and then decide whether or not to actively promote them ourselves.
