Horses Giving Error

Post by Fayre Scribe »

It's not a western sim without good horses. I've been using these horses for some time now. Here's the issue. They work fine for me, but when Gid tries using one (and it's one I sent him that was working for me), he gets this error and it won't work for him. And these used to work for him. So why would it now suddenly stop working for him. And why would it work for me and not him? Same viewer. Same horse. Same sim. And resetting the script like it says doesn't help.

Horse Hanni Animesh v3.1 - Pinto Dark Gid: YEngine: OSSL Permission Error: osAvatarStopAnimation permission denied. (script: HHorse 3.1C event: state_entry primID: fd734127-dc50-4e25-b8e4-da43f135cd19 at: <882,141,22>) Script must be Reset to re-enable.

Hi Fayre,

Some OSSL functions are threat-level limited in OpenSim and/or Kitely (IINM we almost always use the default OpenSim configuration). See: https://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-ne ... functions/ where is states that osAvatarStopAnimation is only permitted to the world owner or its estate managers (in OpenSim it's the region owner or its estate managers).

This is why this script would work for you in your own world/region but not for Gid (who I assume isn't an estate manager in your world). You can solve this issue if you rezz the object under your own permissions or have an object that rezzes copies of scripted horses under your ownership and thus using your own permissions.

But it worked for him and his alt not that long ago. And for another person who lives on my land it worked. Why the sudden stop?
And there's no way to turn that off on your own land short of making everyone there an estate manager?

Will read what you sent. It'll help me understand but I'm sure it won't solve the problem.

Thanks. :(

Hi Fayre,

The last time that list was updated was in March 2021. Nothing has changed in Kitely regarding which script functions are allowed for differernt people since then. Have you switched scripts or the Current Owner of the script? Have you tried resetting the script as recommended by the error message you sent me? (It's possible it has been corrupted and resetting it would help).

since they were last usable, I did not switch scripts or change anything. I did try the reset and it didn't work.
