Mesh UPLOAD viewers

Post by Dundridge Dreadlow »

Hi, I'd like to start a list of viewers capable of mesh UPLOAD (y'know, without crashing trying to upload stuff to Kitely) along with anything of importance (ie, what is different about it) you'd like to add about the viewer. If there is a particularly awesome viewer we need to know about that doesn't support upload, post it, tag it so :) I'll start things off with

Firestorm 4.2.2.29837 for Opensim is available on the Kitely viewer download page here

Features and problems of interest - working mesh upload, all the usual, still has elements of the very old 1.3 viewer design even in 3.0 mode.

PS. Kitely is awesome.

Firestorm Firestorm 4.4.2 (34167) for OpenSim also works. http://www.kitely.com/file?type=viewer

I tested mesh upload with custom physics file, and all was good. Ozwell Wayfarer also indicated in another thread that he does the same with this version, with no problems.

I get instant crash with 4.4.2.34167 attempting mesh upload before the UI even loads. (no_havok message). I even reinstalled the version you linked to double-double check. They also did horrible things with the script editor UI :(

Interesting. I got a message dialog box when I first chose upload/mesh. I forget the exact text, but it said something like not all mesh support from SL was included in this version, and gave me a check box to not see the message again. I checked that and clicked OK. Mesh upload process continued normally (normal for OS that is).

I would sure like to know why it crashed for you. I haven't tried the script editor UI yet, but I usually script off-line and copy/paste into the script inworld. What horrible things did you notice?

They made ALL the formerly easy to click buttons into teeny tiny icons without text. I rely on an external editor where all my code is on hard drive and then preprocessed into one file. The built in one doesn't even support opensim command highlighting. What they have done is far from an improvement :( It's like they have gone out of their way to make things harder to use.

I did notice that "not all mesh support thing" (on the website only, it never popped on the viewer) and assumed that was what caused the insta-crash, but if it really worked for you, I'm really curious what is going on.

I have to wonder if for some reason, on your computer, it's behaving differently (a.k.a. broken). I opened an NPC and an animation script that use OS commands, and all OS commands were highlighted. The icons for save, copy etc. appear (to me) bigger than the text menu items "File", "Edit", and "Help"

Anyone else whose downloaded this version seeing the same thing as Dundridge?

Okay. LOL. Well, for what its worth, I'm using the default skin. Don't know whether that clears anything up or muddles it up worse :D

I am using Singularity 1.8.3.(4998), mesh upload is working well. Singularity is very quick and stable, has got V1 UI and all the modern features of V2/V3 Viewers.

Singularity is not supported by Kitely Plugin, but you can login manually into Kitely with Singularity.

I use Kokua for here and Second life.
Only major issues I am having here is I can't create new clothing layers here in appearance.
I couldn't get firestorm at all to work here.
I wish I could figure out how to SOAS to work with Kokua.
Anyone know?
