Non-player character only appears as cloud
Back in October, I posted an issue with NPC failure. At that time, the entire script seemed inoperative. Then by November, the problem was gone, without any reason to think changes had been made, other than updates to OpenSim. I had not made any changes in the script. Today however, after the latest update to OpenSim 0.7.6, I find that the NPC script executes, but the NPC itself remains an unresolved "cloud". It is just like the unresolved cloud for an avatar that sometimes appears when first entering a world. To clarify, no changes were made to the underlying script. The viewer version I'm using is Firestorm for OpenSim 4.5.1, but the cloud was occurring with the previous version as well (4.4.2). I wonder if anyone else has been using NPCs and encountered these issues.

Re: Non-player character only appears as cloud
My NPCs have been resolving just fine, both before and after the update. I'm just using them as fashion models, so they aren't moving around.
I'm using Firestorm V4.4.2 for OpenSim on Windows 7.

Re: Non-player character only appears as cloud
It is possibly an asset issue with the NPC definition, especially if the NPCs are wearing prims. Sometimes avatars fail to render correctly, this is much more pronounced on NPCs.
If this is the case, resetting the NPC definition will likely solve it. The alternative is a viewer issue which is usually fixed by clearing cache or again, updating the NPC definition.
It is highly unlikely to be anything to do with the script. If it creates/manipulates the NPC (rendering correctly or not) the script is fine.

Re: Non-player character only appears as cloud
Oddly, but pleasantly, the script worked on my next visit. More exactly, a cloud appeared, but then the NPC also appeared as the cloud faded. As noted, a bit odd, but useful again at this point.
