Creation-Themed Discussions

Post by Min Tigerpaw »

Was reasoning if there is interest within Kitely in meetings to discuss selected themes around building, designing, scripting, animation .... whatever...

In order to test this
I'd like to invite people interested to a themed discussion/workshop on interactice boards (text, graphics, media) for Kitely.

Will do it at my place: Min's Creation Island , Friday Dec 13th @ 11:00-12:00 PST (20:00 CET, extension possible)

Besides discussing my own first textboards and the current project for an interactive schoolboard I'll show how "groupboard" can be used effectively within Kitely as drawing tool and as collaboration tool with other in-world-players or anyone outside at a PC or tablet.

My apologies -- it looks like I will be travelling when the workshop is happening (7pm UTC).

Please count me as interested in future events, though. I think there's a lot we can learn from each other.

Thanks for organising this, Min.

Well, somehow I missed this notice until it was five hours too late! Great idea! Even though it would be 2:00-3:00am my time, I might try to get to this type of event if I was feeling energetic at that hour. :)

2013-12-13 discussion on interactive boards - summary of meeting at Min’s Creation Island:

This was the first themed discussion-event of this kind and thus an experiment. The total number of participants was 6 with presence spread over 2 hours.
Discussed topics:
Whiteboards, textboards and other interactive screens/boards for display of presentations, images or video.
Presomatic tool available in the market from “Virtually Human”( http://www.kitely.com/market/product/22 ... ar=2207433 ) was used for slides guiding through the topic.
Whiteboards:
Options for use of web-based whiteboards in Kitely were discussed. Groupboard ( http://www.groupboard.com/products/ ) was used to display collaborative drawing in-world including link through direct browser. Limitations are: maximum of 5 users on free board / no drag & drop. Selby and Graham provided links to alternative boards and other useful collaboration tools that might be considered (to be checked for in-world use):

Overall ….. this was a good start for such discussion events …I learned a lot and hope others did as well. Based on encouraging feedback I will organize more of this kind in future. :D
